A sgian dubh (pronounced "skee and do") is the small knife traditionally worn tucked into the top of the kilt hose as part of Highland dress. The name comes from Scottish Gaelic and is often translated as "black knife" or "hidden knife,".

Our sgian dubh is hand forged with a Damascus steel blade, prized for the flowing, layered pattern that runs along its length. Every Damascus blade carries its own unique grain, so the pattern on yours will be entirely its own.

THE HANDLE

The handle is where this Sgian Dubh becomes something truly special.

Each handle starts life as plastic bottle tops collected by our own team on beach cleans along the Scottish coastline. The plastic is recovered, cleaned, shredded and remoulded into a durable Ocean Plastic handle with a distinctive marbled finish.

The result is simple: no two Sgian Dubhs are ever the same.

Our Sgian Dhub Finished with a light tan leather sheath and presented in a brown craft gift box.

Please note that, in line with UK law, all our Sgian Dubhs are supplied blunt.
